In August 2022, NAARCA-partner Artica Svalbard welcomed Oslo-based artist and writer Nikhil Vettukattil (b.1990, Bengaluru, India). Using a range of media such as sound, installation, performance, text, sculpture, and video, his practice questions modes of representation and image-making processes in their relation to lived experiences. While in residence at Artica, Nikhil developed new work that incorporates research into food and diet, specifically in relation to the ‘Nordic diet’ and the influence of imported and exported food.
Nikhil is one of two artists to receive the NAARCA art commission for new work to be completed in Spring 2024.
