Jaana Escola was invited by SWAN, the Swedish Artist Residency Network, to its annual network meeting to introduce the NAARCA Sustainability Toolkit for Artists’ Residencies.
Over the course of two days, October 12-13 2023, NAARCA’s Swedish partner, Baltic Art Center (BAC), hosted the network meeting on its native island of Gotland. Under the theme of Sustainable Artistic Freedom, about 70 network members from all over Sweden gathered to reflect on what sustainability for residencies can mean in a time of climate crisis and armed conflict.
